Every year I blog about how I celebrated my birthday and this is the first time I’ve been more than a day late. My birthday was on the 12th and it’s now the 16th. Tsk. Busy, busy, busy. I’m actually pretty tired so I’m gonna do this real quick.
My 22nd birthday started with greetings from very special people who stayed up until midnight to greet me with phone calls, Skype calls and really sweet text messages. I slept with a really big smile on my face after all that.
I woke up at 7am to an awesome breakfast of bacon, ham, bacon, eggs and bacon. My brother made me an awesome card that said, “Dear Ate Grace, thank you for always taking care of me. Love, Miguel” *cue my melting heart* Also, I was greeted by a couple of special people (thanks to another special person).
I got double greetings from Amber Davis, who I adore…
And a short and sweet one from the boys of Balance and the Traveling Sounds, all the way from Los Angeles!
Lunch was even more awesome. We bought our favorite dishes from Conti’s plus a huge Mango Brave cake, brought them home and ate them, along with tons of seafood. After that, the parents took me shopping and I (as well as my sister) took advantage.
The evening, however, was the epic part. My sister, my best friend and I went to see Up Dharma Down at Capone’s. Although they’re my favorite local band, I actually haven’t seen them play live for about a year now so this was really special. The event was a screening of a docu film about them too. The front act was The Charms and although their music isn’t really my thing, they were actually pretty good. The film was so-so. It was like one long music video with interviews in between songs but it wasn’t all that bad.
While waiting in between the sets and the film, it was nice to get to sit down and catch up with my best friend and have my sister there. I think it’s the first time that we’ve done that, just the three of us. It was really nice and chill. Also, the awesome best friend gave me the Rajon Rondo (Boston Celtics point guard) jersey her boyfriend bought from the States. Thanks, you two! I shall take a picture soon.
The coolest part of my night was when UDD started playing. I’ve seen them play live a few times before and every time, I still get that amazing feeling when they start playing. And don’t get me started on what happens to me when Armi starts singing. They’re amazing.
I got to have my picture taken with all the band members so yay me! I have my sister to thank for that. I also think it’s worth mentioning that I actually looked really ladylike that day. Rare. Haha!
It was a happy birthday, indeed.
